Unemployment is
destroying our youth's lives

Many
youth are unemployed in South Africa and this unemployment issue lead them to
wrong ways. Some have degrees and diplomas but they are sitting at home doing
nothing. Many of them don't know what to do with their time.
Many
end up taking drugs and drinking alcohol in their spare time. The worst thing
is that they need money to get all those things. Some need money to provide for
their families that’s why they end up involving in a crime act. ''I sometimes
end up stealing my neighbour’s properties to sell them and get money." said Mpho Letlalo
who is an unemployed youth with Honours degree of Law .Stealing is a crime some end up in jail because of this acts. "I can't
live without drugs but i blame unemployment because i wouldn't have time for
those things".
The
community also find it hard to cope with unemployed youth around them .Many
parents are worried because their children are becoming robbers in order to
satisfy their addiction. "I wish the government can do something about
this issue because unemployment is a challenge that is affecting our children's
lives badly." Some girls end up dating old man to get money. They end up
being pregnant and some HIV positive. "Many people hate me for what i am
doing but they don't know my situation or why am doing this. People should stop
judging me because am trying to make a living for myself."
Youth
must not let unemployment destroy their future. They can start their own small
business and some can also volunteer in some project to keep them busy.
"As a young business person am also willing to help other young people who
want to start their own business. I can also give them advice and strategy in
business world.”
The
South African government must help in this issue .In future this country will
end up having no having no leaders of tomorrow and business people to develop
the economy of this country.
